Review: Urban Decay Vice palette

Being regarded as one of the leading cosmetic companies in the world, Urban Decay has gone and trumped the beauty world once again with their fabulous new additions to their collection. With the worldwide success of the leading NAKED palette, followed by its equally dazzling counterpart, NAKED 2, UD have held the high stakes when it comes to eye-shadow.

However, this Winter Urban Decay went and blew their competition right out of the water with the release of NAKED basics and the Ammo palette, and of course, the Vice Palette.
I was lucky enough to receive this fantastic product for Christmas, and while it is still not available in Ireland yet, I was itching to get cracking and experimenting with the new colours. The Vice palette ranges from earthy neutrals such as nevermind, similar to what we have seen in NAKED, to crazy electric blues like chaos. The Vice palette boasts an incredible 20 different colours, all of which are unique and never seen before in any other palette. It really hits both ends of the spectrum, as simple and neutral day-time looks are very achievable with colours such as laced and echo beach. Yet, there is also the option for the more daring, creative ladies to go wild with colours like nose and unhinged. I also found that by dipping your brush into water and applying the shadows wet, not only creates a more dramatic look but also is very long lasting. The shadows are perfectly pigmented, like all UD shadows. The palette also comes with the Urban Decay blending and crease brush, the exact same as in NAKED 2. The one thing I was a little bit disappointed with the palette is that it didn't come with the Urban Decay Primer Potion or one of their fantastic 24/7 eyeliners. The brush is very practical and useful, but it did lack that extra mile.

The palette itself is sleek and compact, with the largest mirror that has ever been in a UD palette, (which earns major brownie points with me!) Surprisingly enough, it isn't near as heavy as the sturdy NAKED 2 palette, but quite the opposite. The palette is light and neat, which makes it excellent for travelling or even just throwing into your handbag. The Vice palette retails for around €45-50, which may seem a tad expensive, yet for 20 shadows, you can't really go too wrong with that. Especially considering the NAKED 2 palette retails for just about the same.
Overall I'd give the palette a solid 9 out of 10, just docking that one point for not including the UDPP, but still a quality product! :)
